It’s been over a year since I’ve had Heart of Haute on the blog but I’m very excited to have some super gorgeous pieces to share over the coming weeks! First up is is the Amanda Dress in Hydrangea Print and my goodness is this full of vibrancy and flair!
Floral prints are a favourite of mine and since most florals tend to be on a lighter background, it’s always refreshing to have a darker print like this which can be worn across multiple seasons. I adore bright jewel tones and the glorious purples, blues and lavenders in the Amanda Dress are no exception.
The Amanda Dress features a gathered bust with a rounded collar which I was a little apprehensive about how it would make my bust look. When I’ve tried on styles like this in the past, they felt like they pushed my bust down in a unflattering way.
I had no issues with the Amanda Dress, the fit was really lovely and I think the key was that the rounded collar was not too tight across my chest.
I wore the Rago 2202 Longline Bra underneath and pushed the straps further onto my shoulders so they were covered by the collar of the dress.
The Amanda Dress has a full skirt which fits a Malco Modes/ Vivien of Holloway petticoat underneath. The length is on the shorter side, hitting me just above the knee (I’m 168cm). It’s made from 100% cotton and is unlined but the construction is great.
I’m wearing the size medium (my bust measures 36″ and waist measures 27.5″) and I would say it’s very true to the size chart. It fits great in the bust, is a little roomy in the waist and if I was being picky, I would love a tiny bit more room in the underarm area- but it’s not uncomfortable. The is no stretch in the fabric so if you are in-between sizes, sizing up would be safest.
The great thing about a lot of Heart of Haute Dresses is that they have ties at the back to help cinch in the waist. Usually I have to wear a belt to hide excess material at the waist but thanks to the ties, there’s no need.
The print is seriously gorgeous, with such a array of blue and purple hues, you can accessories with a variety of tones. I chose royal blue heels and the most gorgeous and perfectly matching custom hair piece by Soda Sweethearts.
I sent Holly pictures of this dress for her to create a piece to match and she did such a amazing job! It’s got all the same colours and when held against the dress, it’s almost camouflage.
The Amanda Dress in Hydrangea Print is US$110 for sizes XS – XL and US$116 for sizes 1XL- 2XL. This style also comes in 11 other prints and colours, my other favourites being Little Leaf Pink print and Garden Royale print.
A big thank you to my cousin Lex of AM Photography for the wonderful photos! It’s still winter here in New Zealand so finding flowers in bloom as a little hard but thankfully the Auckland Botanical Gardens had a lot of lavender… it’s a miracle I wasn’t stung by the dozens of bee’s buzzing around the lavender bushes but we had to get the shot!
