If you haven’t heard of the magical world of Australian brand Erstwilder then come out of the rock you’ve been living under and be prepared to get a little obsessed. Boasting somewhat of a cult following amongst the beautiful retro ladies across the globe, their quirky and cute resin jewellery seem to get girls well and truly hooked!
With each new collection Erstwilder releases, their designs seem to get better and better and I think the latest ranges are their best yet. Not only that, but there is a brand spanking, shiny new website to make purchasing your favourite goodies even easier.
Up until the launch of the new website last week, you had to buy from various stockists which didn’t all have full range. Now there are over 300 designs at erstwilder.com and it’s super easy to shop by either theme, colour, animal or type of jewellery.
I was so excited to hear that one of their new collections was called ‘Beauty School‘ and features fun makeup and hair themed items. I couldn’t resist picking out the ‘Fancy New Do’ and the ‘Eau De Toilette’ Brooches.
As someone who sets her hair in rollers very regularly and also sits under a hood dryer, ‘Fancy New Do’ was too perfect! She looks like she’s got a lot of sass and even though all Erstwilder pieces have mutliple layers for a 3D look, this gorgeous lady takes that to the next level and the detail is superb.

Who doesn’t love a vintage perfume bottle? The added detail of it being a double brooch, the pearly tortoiseshell effect, and the fact that it’s mint and pink (one of my favourite colour combinations!) had me head over heels. I would have loved to have had the mint colour also on the lid to tie it all in but that’s just my colour obsession kicking in.

One of the most sought after Erstwilder designs is the peach/mint Flamingo Necklace which I was lucky enough to get before it sold out. Thank goodness this design has made a reappearance but in a funky new purple polka/mint colourway. As tempted as I was to get the ‘Flamboyant Flamingo’ Necklace, I instead went for the brooch version since I already had a the necklace in the old colourway.
‘Flamboyant Flamingo Funk‘ Brooch is exactly that… one funky bird! – AU$34.95
The bulk of Erstwilder’s designs are animal themed and ‘Lena Blue-Eyed Birman’ really caught my eye. One of my kitties, Coco, passed away in June and was a Tonkinese so had very similar colouring to Lena. I also liked how the colours were a little more muted so had potentially more versatility in terms of matching outfits.
I do have one small issue with Lena however- the fastening pin is vertical meaning she doesn’t sit well when pinned. I know she’s a slim wee thing hence why Erstwilder would have choose to place it vertically but I think a shorter horizontal pin would have still worked just fine and meant she would stayed centred instead of flopping to one side.

Finally, probably my favourite piece of them all, the ‘Cooktown Glory’ Necklace as part of the Australiana range. Erstwilder don’t do many floral designs but the few that they have done, are absolutely stunning. I love this big statement necklace and the pretty pinks, green and purples featured.
If you are like me and love florals, be sure to check out the other two new pieces – the ‘Pretty In Pink’ brooch and the ‘Orchid Bouquet’ Earrings.

Shipping is free for all orders over AU$100 in Australia and AU$150 for International orders. I suggest partnering up with a similarly Erstwilder crazed pinup to combine orders and save on shipping!
Got a fabulously flamboyant or adorably alluring design that you think would make a extraordinary Erstwilder brooch? The new website even has a suggestion box… how cool is that?! My requests would be more florals and maybe even a screen siren collection- think beautiful, quirky resin versions of iconic beauties such as Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Bettie Page and Lucille Ball.
