I love being able to put together a outfit that carries on a theme from head to toe. Sometimes when I’m in a more summery, tropical outfit, the shoes can be a little lacking which is why I love that Lucky Lou Shoes do such a beautiful range of carved heels.
My first pair of Lucky Lou Shoes was the Cherry Blossom Heel, which I reviewed last year. Since then, they’ve bought out some new styles and new colours – my favourite? The Souvenir Heel in Green!
This green seemed like the perfect colour to me as so many tropical floral prints have a element of green in them, making them the most versatile choice. I also wanted to try the lower, wedge style of the Souvenir compared to the higher Cherry Blossom Heel.
The Souvenir style comes with two options – with or without a ankle strap. I opted for the ankle strap because I like to feel safe and secure in a heel. It features a 3″ hand carved wooden heel with soft green leather and a padded sole. With a wooden heel, you expect the shoe to be quite heavy but in fact, they are surprisingly light and easy to walk in! The leather too is lovely and soft and overall I found the Souvenir to be just that little bit more comfortable than the Cherry Blossom.
One thing to note if you are planning on purchasing this style, is that it runs a little bit small. I am normally a size 8.5 or 9 in USA sizing (EU39) and in the Cherry Blossom, I took a 9. For the Souvenir however, I actually needed a 10 as the toe area is on the tighter side and Lucky Lou recommends sizing up. The 10 fitted perfectly and the leather of course has give so will stretch and mould to your feet with wear.
I love the way these photos have turned out from my shoot with Tigz Rice at Fontaine’s in London! Downstairs there’s a tiki themed bar which was perfect for the shoes, and I styled them with the classic Halterneck Circle Dress in Birds of Paradise Print by Vivien of Holloway- with the straps tucked in for a little extra sass! I finished off the whole outfit with some of the new bangles by Lucky Lou Shoes.
The Souvenir Heel are US$118 with the ankle strap or US$105 without. They also come in a leopard, red and two black versions – one genuine leather and one vegan leather. I’m really impressed with the comfort and quality of these heels and am looking forward to next summer so I can start styling them with more outfits!
