Sometimes one item of clothing inspires a whole outfit and extravagant theme. In this case, the Pinup Girl Clothing Jenny skirt in orange print inspired a Tutti Frutti Carmen Miranda themed outfit!
I got the skirt from Rita Sue Clothing and as soon as I saw that the shop also had this super cute pineapple cardigan, I was hooked on the idea of a Tutti Fruitti outfit!
I had the perfect headpeice from my hawaiian playsuit outfit in the Miss Pinup Competition. Made by Mean Streak Vintage, it has all the colours in the skirt, plus some bonus fruit!
I had a hard time deciding between the Jenny skirt or dress when this print was released. But since I already have a oranges/lemons print dress from Lady V London, I went with the skirt version.
I got my usual size small in the Jenny skirts which fits very snug but not uncomfortably so.
My first Jenny skirt was the plain black version and I could get a petticoat underneath easily. The two subsequent ones however, the dancing horses and this one, are a little shorter and my petticoats are all too long and show through.
The benefit of the slightly shorter length though, is that they seem more poofy. Sometimes I feel quite matronly in my black one because it hangs very limp without a petticoat and is so long.
With such gorgeous bright colours in this skirt, you don’t have to wear yellow on top- try white, orange or green!
The Jenny skirt comes in size XS to 2XL and retails for US$98 on the Pinup Girl Clothing website.
Paired with the Jenny skirt is the super cute Pineapple Cardigan by Banned Apparel, also purchased from Rita Sue Clothing.
This long sleeve cardigan with puff sleeves and a keyhole tie was just too sweet to pass up. I knew the yellow would work with the skirt and the pineapples would continue the fruity theme!
I’m wearing the size 10 which fits really well. At first I was a little unsure of the puff sleeves but I got used to them and now I love them for that little bit of added detail.
Made out of a comfortable rayon mix, this cardigan is lovely and soft!
Banned is one of those brands that don’t sell from their own website- so if you want a pineapple cardigan of your own, try searching on eBay or asking your local boutique if they can get it in for you.
I LOVE this head piece! The hibiscus flowers are really lovely ones (there’s nothing worse that horrible looking fake flowers).
This is a custom piece from Mean Streak Vintage– all of Sarah’s creations are individually made to order and no two pieces are different.
The colours in all these photos are just beautiful! The flowers at Cornwall Park were in full force and thank you to my ever-so talented cousin Lex of AM Photography for capturing it!
It’s so much fun being bold with your clothing choices- I like to match EVERYTHING which to some can be a little too much, but I think it’s fabulous!
