Powderpuff Boutique Sadie Dress

Powderpuff Boutique is a Australian label that I’ve been following for some time now. Owner and mastermind Paula-Jane designs and creates the original range inspired by mid-century styles.

I love this description on the website-

These garments are so sassy, they should come with a warning label! Sweet wahines will soon have ‘em sighin’ in Hawaiian! Sex kittens will disarm and possibly do some harm! Burlesque bombshells will have eyes-a-poppin’

With a diverse range of swing and wiggle styles, evening and daywear, rockabilly jumpsuits and cute playsuits, Powderpuff Boutique has something for every pinup!

I got to pick out a couple of items and one of them was the Sadie Dress in Texas Rose. I’m particularly loving yellow at the moment so this dress appealed strait away.

Inspired by the early 60’s frocks, the Sadie dress features and scoop neckline, lined bodice, self-covered belt, gathered skirt and one of my favourites- a hidden pocket!

It’s a shorter frock than my usual below-knee length but I’m getting more and more used to this length. On the day of this shoot, it was the first hot summery day of the season and I wore it during the day and on the 2hr drive to Hamilton.

It was super comfortable and kept me nice and cool on such a warm day!

This yellow floral print is just lovely. The different shades of yellow and green mean that you can easily accessorise with different colours.

I chose to wear a yellow nylon scarf and my white heels. I’ll be definitely keeping an eye out for some summery wedges in yellow as I think that would work perfectly!

When I first put the dress on for this shoots, I was looking in the mirror thinking- ‘This would be amazing if it had adjustable straps’ as the scoop was feeling a little low.

Then I turned around and VOILA! It indeed did have adjustable straps! Such a great feature to have and made all the difference to the fit of the dress.

The quality of the Sadie is outstanding. A fully lined bodice, sturdy zipper and I absolutely love the self-covered belt.

Most of the time I need to wear a belt to cinch in the waist of dress that are too big in that area.

The size 10 fits me PERFECTLY and for once, I could get away with not needing to wear the belt!

However, I love that added detail and would choose to wear it anyway- but it’s nice to have the option!

The Sadie retails for AU$140 and goes from a size 8 to a size 16 and if you are in Australia, there is even the option to Layby your order!

I’ve got another Powderpuff outfit coming up later in the month so stay tuned for that. In the meantime, have a look at the Powderpuff Boutique website for more gorgeous items and follow them on Facebook to keep up to date with the latest news!

Thank you to Keith of Shifting Light Photography for the photos! We took these at the Classics Museum in Hamilton, big thanks also to Jukebox Diner Manager Anjel aka Bettie Rage for letting us use the space for the shoot!
