A few months ago, Pinup Girl Clothing previewed a new upcoming Vivien Dress in satin.
This dress had been around for a little while and initially I wasn’t in love with the one shouldered look but then when they released a preview of the Vivien’s swing sister, the Valerie in Pink, I was smitten.
I’m going through a major pink phase right now, and this dress ticked all the boxes!
I broke my shopping ban and ordered this dress as soon as it was available on the website.
I went with my usual size small in Pinup Girl Clothing after double checking that my measurements fitted within the measurements listed on the size chart.
When Valerie arrived, I noticed how heavy it was! The bridal satin is the same as the Red Rose Ava I have also from PUG, and it’s just so luxurious!
It drapes beautifully and the soft gathers on the strap are such a lovely touch.
I couldn’t help but twirl around the house singing ‘I feel pretty’ when I first tried this on… I really did feel like a pink princess covered in delicious satin.
I knew that I would have to shoot the Valerie with Elizabeth J Photography at the Opera Studio above my workplace. The decor in the Studio matched the Valerie’s majestic style.
The size small fits absolutely perfectly. I was a little worried about which bra might work as it needed to be strapless but my Pleasure State Ivy Rain Longline one worked well.
I took the strap off the exposed side and kept the other strap on for extra support.
I love that the dress comes with a matching belt! I feel like that helps to keep the dress up too.
The Valerie is lined and even features pockets! Not something you would expect in a evening dress but a welcome feature nonetheless!
Now with any swing dress, you’ve gotta do a twirl test! Because of the Valerie’s weight, it twirls beautifully and Elizabeth perfectly captured it!
I cannot wait to wear Valerie out! I love the cut and style so much, I am also lusting after the stunning Royal Blue version.
If swing isn’t your thing, then do check out her wiggle sister which comes in some beautiful colours.
Thank you again to Elizabeth J Photography for the stunning images. I think this could be the most gorgeous blog post yet 😉
