BAIT Footwear Irella Shoes

You will all know by now that I am well and truly BAIT Footwear obsessed… I reviewed the Ida and Ione styles two weeks ago and now it’s the Irella’s turn!

Initially this style was one of those ‘maybe’ ones… It eventually grew on me more and more and the gorgeous green colour called my name. I knew the deep green would go with quite a number of dresses in my wardrobe and the T Bar strap and tear drop cut outs were so deliciously 1940s that I couldn’t resist.

I went with the same size as the rest of the BAIT shoes I have- a size 9. I have to say, this style is probably the most comfortable of all the BAIT styles I’ve tried. There is a little more width in the toes than the Ida/Ione so by the end of the day, my toes don’t feel quite so squished!

The Irella has a 1 3/4″ heel, faux patent leather, cute polka dot lining and a gold buckle. The heel height is not high enough to hurt too much after a day on my feel, in fact I think it’s pretty ideal! It’s enough to provide support as completely flat shoes can be really sore after a long day.

The T Bar strap is a lovely detail and I love the subtle stitching around the tear drops.

The thing I really liked about these shoes is that because of the dark green colour, I’ll be able to wear these in winter with opaque black tights and it won’t look silly. I always feel like light coloured shoes and black tights looks a bit off but that’s just me.

The Irella comes in sizes 6-10 with half sizes except for a 9.5 which seems to be the case with all their shoes and I think is a odd decision. However, I believe they are expanding their sizes up to a 11 so hopefully they will add some extra half sizes in too.

These shoes are US$67 and also come in a Grey, Black and Nude. If you are worried about what size to order, I’d recommend converting your European size- this seems to be more universally known. For instance, I am a size 39 which converts to a US8.5. However, I know that my feet are quite wide and also that I prefer my shoes to be on the looser side (and you can get away with having looser fitting shoes when they have straps) so I ordered a 9.

If in doubt, why not send the BAIT Footwear team a email! They have always been very fast to respond when I’ve had queries.

  1. You don’t like light shoes with black tights because your mother always told you it made you look like Minnie Mouse. And she was right.

  2. I also have quite wide feet and I’ve been lusting after Bait foot wear for soo long! I always have the worst luck with shoes! Do you know if their return policy and customer service is any good? Thank you!
