Pin-Up By Cindy Lee is a brand that I fell in love with at the Viva Las Vegas Car Show where they had a stall set up. I absolutely adore lace and everything in Cindy’s collection is a decadent nod to vintage lingerie. A lot of the tops have a slight bullet shape to them and the wiggle skirts remind me of retro girdles with the diamond shape in the middle.
I love this quote on their website-
“It is my passion to create beautiful designs that encourage women of all sizes to realize the sultry and magnetic beauty that they already emanate.”
The Chantilly Swing Dress had me smitten as soon as I saw it displayed on the mannequin. It was just a sample and not available at the time but now it is featured on the website and one of only two swing styles in the collection.
The Chantilly Swing Dress fitted in absolutely perfectly with the newly restored St James Theatre with Elizabeth J Photography.
The Chantilly Dress is made from a soft millenium fabric with a gorgeous black lace overlay. It features a structured padded bust with two sparkling rhinestones. The skirt is gathered with a good amount of fullness which I enhanced by wearing my black petticoat from That Shop.
The back of the bodice is made from a solid black stretchy material with a centre back zipper. The stretchy back means the dress is really comfortable and means you can probably size down easily if you like a fitted look. According to the size chart I would be a size medium but in both this dress and the top I bought at Viva Las Vegas, I wear a size small… even then the waist is a teeny bit roomy! For reference my bust measures 36″ and waist measures 27.5″.
From my experience, I would definitely say that this style runs large and for reference, my bust measures 36″ and waist measures between 27″-28″. Pin-Up By Cindy Lee goes from size Small to 3XL, catering up to a bust size of 49″ and waist of 39″.
The straps on the Chantilly Swing Dress are stretchy (like bra straps), are adjustable and are slightly thicker on the plus sizes. My only issue with the fit of this dress is that it seems to give me a bit of under arm bulge- perhaps because it’s cut a little high in the underarm area? This issue might be reduced if I went bra-less.
The Chantilly Swing Dress is US$215 but the fabric and quality of construction is worth the higher price point, especially since everything is made in Southern California and NOT in a terrible sweat shop. I highly recommend having a browse through the Pin-Up By Cindy Lee website for truly unique pieces.
Thank you as always to the talented Elizabeth J Photography for the wonderful set of photos!
