Flamingo Fever

You know those items of clothing that you aren’t completely sold on initially, but then you see it on someone else and you just all of a sudden NEED IT IN YOUR LIFE!?
Yeah, that’s exactly what happened with me and the Pink Flamingos Novelty Print Circle Skirt from The Oblong Box Shop. I saw it on Miss Monique Sweet (who happened to win hers in a competition I held here on the blog a few months ago) and I was head over heels.

To be honest, I have no idea what kept me from falling in love with it instantly – the pink and mint are TOTALLY my colours.
Actually, looking back I think I had tried to reason myself that I don’t need another flamingo item since I already have a dress from Pigtails and Pirates… but who was I kidding? There’s never too many flamingos in your life!

The Novelty Print Skirts from The Oblong Box Shop have been a huge success and I can’t wait to see what this year brings. Denialle Von Fitch designs these cute and quirky prints which are so unique and cheerful. You can’t help but feel happy when wearing one of these skirts!

The Pink Flamingos Skirt is glorious indeed- a mix of mint/aqua tones with baby pink flamingos prancing. The Flamingos remind me more of the garden ornaments than actual real flamingos and hence inspired the props used in this shoot.

I’ve already done a review of the Puffer Fish Skirt and I went with the same size, a small. My waist is around 27″, I think a smidge less if I’m wearing the Rago 2202 Longline Bra. The listed measurement for the size small is 26″-27″, so I am at the higher end.
This skirt fits VERY firm. There’s no stretch in the fabric but I think my Puffer Fish one must have stretched out a little with wear as the Flamingos one definitely feels tighter.

I paired the skirt with the Mint Fables By Barrie Bustier that I bought at Viva Las Vegas but you can also but it from The Oblong Box Shop. Because I’m a little nuts about colours matching perfectly, I decided to break it up with a white belt as the mint tones of the two items weren’t *quite* right (although very close!).

The skirt is made out of 100% polyester and has a side zip with button closure. There’s a hidden pocket on the opposite side to the zip for keeping your lippy handy. The Pink Flamingos Circle Skirt is US$95 and comes in sizes S-3XL. If you are thinking of getting one, I wouldn’t delay as they’ve already been around for a year so I wouldn’t be surprised if they are discontinued at some point this year as new designs are released.

  1. If you are really crazy for flamingo’s check out the Irregular Choice web page. They have flamingo heels on beautiful shoes in several different colors and styles. It seems to be a trend for this spring, I know I love a good flamingo item or two in my wardrobe! Thanks for the review.

  2. This whole outfit is absolutely gorgeous…I’ve been eyeing of that skirt for a while but just haven’t had the chance to purchase, but saying that I already own two flamingo print swing skirts! I just love your photoshoots with Elizabeth J Photography.
