With my love for tartan and plaid now well and truly entrenched in my wardrobe, I was so excited to add the very welcome addition of the Idda Tartan Dress by Miss Candyfloss.
Born out of a collaboration between the undeniable beauty and style icon that is Idda Van Munster and Miss Candyfloss, this dress embodies everything I love about the vintage style.
The Idda Tartan Dress is made from a classic yellow and black tartan and what I love most about the fabric is that it’s not just printed- it’s textured and almost resembles a tweed. It’s beautifully soft and comfortable with a reasonable weight to it which makes it perfect for cooler autumn days. For those of you that live in very cold climates, you’ll still need more layers but I think for those of us that live in more mild climates, it will be toasty enough on it’s own.
When Idda designed this dress, she took a lot of care with the little details- The shape of the collar, self covered buttons and belt, tabs at the cuffs and bust and hidden zipper. The buttons are functional and so that along with the side zip means it’s not a struggle to get the dress over my head… something I am always eternally grateful for!
Typically I am a size medium in Miss Candyfloss. There are some items I could fit into a size small but I find that their sleeves are tighter than usual and most of the fabrics they use have minimal stretch so a medium is the safest bet. With the Idda Dress however, I sized up to a large. It ran small, especially in the bust and I’m thankful that I did indeed size up as it definitely runs small in bust. The waist is still very large on me and unfortunately that means that the belt is also too big- I may have to punch some extra holes into it!
For this shoot, I decided to accessorise with black but I also think that adding tan details would look beautiful since there’s a mustard yellow woven throughout the fabric.
Unfortunately this gorgeous dress is no longer available on Miss Candyfloss as it was a limited edition. But be sure to keep an eye out as I know it was a popular and you never know, it might be restocked!
