Wearing bright colours is such a wonderful pick-me-up, it’s hard to not feel happy when putting on a beautifully vibrant outfit. Normally though for me, it’s limited to a palette of 2-3 colours so getting to wear a entire rainbow is a real treat!
The Candy Stripe Priscilla Dress by The Pretty Dress Company is a hard dress to miss, it features a stunning array of rainbow colours- from bright magenta to minty green. I love that there are pastel shades in there too as it meant that when it came to accessorising, I could choose softer colours so it didn’t become too overwhelming.
This Priscilla Midi Dress in Candy Stripe is the second in the style that I have. It features a fitted, lined bodice, skinny spaghetti straps, pockets and large pleats on the skirt. The material is a stretch cotton sateen and has a lovely weight to it, the kind that you know it’s high quality!
I am 36″ at the bust and 27″ in the waist so I’m wearing a size 10 which is my usual size in The Pretty Dress Company. The size chart lists that the 10 has a bust measurement of 35.5″ and waist of 28″ so I’m a little bit over in the bust and under in the waist.
The fit reflects this- the waist is definitely a little roomy, hence why I am wearing a belt. The bust, while being snug still fits fine as the material has a slight stretch to it.
One thing I do wish this dress had is adjustable straps- they feel a little long for me and I think the bust would fit better if I could pull it up a little bit. If you find that it’s a similar problem for you, I’d suggest taking it to a tailor as it won’t be a expensive fix!
The skirt is a lovely shape, normally I don’t like big pleats but these sit really nicely and I have no issues with them. It has a super full skirt and performed wonderfully during my mandatory twirl test!
The Priscilla Candy Stripe Midi Dress comes in sizes 8-18 and is £155. There are several other lovely prints in this same style which you can check out here.
