The Domestic Dame is a USA based brand that’s been on my radar for some time now. They have a small but adorable range that’s generally been on the more casual side rather than evening… until now!
Introducing the stunning Lily Dress in Teal Brocade. When designer and owner Lauren showed me the previews of this dress, I instantly fell in love. I adore these kind of bright jewel colours and the brocade made it really something special. I knew it would be a perfect dress to feature for the holiday season!
The Lily Dress is one of The Domestic Dame’s best selling styles and this Teal Brocade version is a limited edition. It features a deep scoop neckline, fitted bodice, extra full skirt and a bow on the back to finish it off. The cotton blend brocade is a beautiful weight and the whole dress is fantastically made. I couldn’t get over how incredible the fit was when I first tried it on, it was seriously perfect!
The deep scoop neck adds a extra bit of drama and sultriness to dress, and it really is quite low! You’ll need to pick your bra wisely and probably opt for a strapless (that’s what I’m wearing) to avoid anything showing. But I think it’s well worth the extra thought needed into undergarments as it’s a bit different to the standard swing dress style.
You will all know by know how much I value not only a full swing/circle skirt but also one with extra length. The Lily Dress has both! A true full circle skirt AND a wonderful length that hits me below the knee. In a evening dress, I find the the extra length especially desirable as it reminds me of the tea- length dresses that the women in the 1950s wore.
The final detail I wish to note, is the lovely bow on the back that sits right where the strap meets the bodice. It’s gorgeous added touch to a otherwise simple and classic style. Personally, as someone who loves a symmetry, I would have opted for two smaller bows but I also like how this isn’t what I would normally have picked.
I’m wearing a size small and comparing my measurements (37″ bust/ 27″ waist) to the size chart, I’d say that the waist is spot on but perhaps the bust can accommodate a inch or two more than what the chart states. There’s not much stretch to this fabric so I would err on the side of sizing up if in doubt and having it tailored for the perfect fit.
The Lily Dress comes in sizes XXS to XXL and is US$154. Because this is a special edition dress, quantities are very limited so don’t delay if you’d like to order one for yourself.

Thank you to David Fisk Photography for the beautiful photos! I wanted to have a little bit of Christmas snuck into the shoot without being too cliché so it was fortuitous that we stumbled upon a holly bush!

You went back to black hair from the red again? Thought you were working towards blonde?
What a beautiful dress. It looks stunning on you. Is it or will it be available on the UK ? X
The Domestic Dame is a USA website but they ship to the UK 🙂
The color is beautiful. I just love the fullness up the skirt and the bow on the back is a wonderful touch.
P.S. I really like your hair bark, especially with your incredibly lovely fair skin. It reminds me of seeing pictures of Vivien Leigh.
that was to say *dark hair
Beautiful. XO
I really love this color of dress! Although I don’t like the bow off to one side, I agree with you, there should be two. I think, especially because the bow is on the side, it sort of looks like one fell off. Still very pretty though!
I loved the red hair on you! It was so gorgeous!I know red hair is very hard to keep up with because it tends to fade so quick! So I get why black would be an easier upkeep! Although I may be bias, I’m a natural redhead :p. The black is very beautiful on you as well! Very vintage looking 🙂 You always look glamorous no matter what color your hair! 🙂
I LOVE your hair, it looks so beautiful!! Thank you for always being so inspiring!
That dress is so pretty!

You always look beautiful but I have always liked dark hair on you. I am glad to see you return to it. The dramatic contrast of the dark hair, fair skin, and blue of the dress is remarkable. Lovely pictures!
