The Livingston Dress by Hell Bunny

If you’ve watched my recent Behind the Scenes at Cahoots video on YouTube, then you’ll have seen a sneaky preview of this Hell Bunny Dress and the photos by David Fisk Photography. Getting to have free reign in Cahoots for a few hours was a dream come true and I love how this particular set turned out!

Tartan has become on of my favourite things about winter styling, this classic print gives makes having to wrap up for the cold weather much more glamorous! So, naturally, I was extremely excited to see the preview of the Livingston 50s Dress by Hell Bunny – a navy and black tartan dress!

The velvet collar and matching belt really creates a point of interest to a otherwise simple silhouette. The combination of the dark navy and black tartan with the velvet lends the Livingston Dress well to dressing up for a winter’s evening out. I decided to head in this direction (as much as I also think it would look perfect more casually during the day) for this shoot at Cahoots London and added my own true vintage veil, brooch and gloves for a more sophisticated and glamorous look.

With most Hell Bunny items, I tend to be a little between sizes and find it best to size up to a Medium. I’d love to see Hell Bunny introduce individual size charts in the future instead of one generic one. When I compare my measurements with their chart, I’m a size M in the Bust and a size S in the Waist. The size Medium which I’m wearing, fits comfortably in the bust, shoulders and arms but is of course big in the waist which I was expecting. I’m thankful for the matching belt though as being able to cinch in the extra room makes all the difference. And I really appreciate the fact that the belt has grommets and the dress has belt loops so everything stays in place!

The fabric of the Livingston 50s Dress is a Polyester/Viscose/Spandex blend but doesn’t have a huge amount of stretch so I’d be weary of sizing down especially in the bust.

The skirt is lovely and full, I poofed it out with my trusty Samantha Petticoat by Malco Modes. It’s a little shorter than some of my other vintage reproduction styles but it still covers my knees and it’s certainly not a length that makes me feel like it might stop me from wearing it!
