On May the 5th, Matt and I headed to Disneyland Paris for the weekend! We were going for Dapper Day on the 6th but wanted to make sure that we had some extra time at the park to do and see as much as possible.
We left London at 10.15am on the Eurostar, arriving at around 2pm at the station right outside Disneyland. We headed straight for the Hotel L’Elysee which was where we were booked into for 2 nights. It isn’t a Disney hotel but it’s in the main city centre of Serris and much more affordable than a Disney hotel! Plus, there was a free bus every 15-30 mins from right outside the hotel to Disneyland.
After checking in and dumping our bags, we headed straight back to Disneyland. Thankfully the sun was shining and we had a lovely afternoon going on as many of the rides as possible. I was really surprised at how similar the park is to the California one – apart from a few small differences, it felt exactly the same and I knew exactly where everything was!
By around 8.30pm we were starting to fade as it had been a long day so we decided to head back to the hotel and get some rest. I regret not staying that night for the light parade – at the time we thought that we would see it the following evening but as it transpired, the weather turned really awful by the Saturday evening and we weren’t in the mood to stand in the rain! But oh well, we have seen the show in California and it was incredible.
The next day was Dapper Day! We met up with some UK friends for breakfast at Annette’s which is a retro style diner inside Disney Village. The décor certainly suited us but we weren’t particularly impressed with the one breakfast option – however, at least it gave us sustenance for the day ahead!
With full bellies, we decided that it was probably best to start with a slightly more subdued ride so lined up for the Phantom Mansion. After that we did the Teacups, Railroad and then it was time for the first Dapper Day meet up at the Steamboat! It was so amazing to see a great crowd of Dapper Day attendees as so far we hadn’t spied many while walking around the park.
By this point, the rain had really set in so we stopped for lunch in the shelter of the Golden Nugget. The afternoon was spent wandering, looking through the castle, buying tiaras, lining up for 90 mins to meet Snow White and the Dumbo ride, before the final Dapper Day Meet Up at the Carousel.
Despite the weather, we still had a fantastic day and it was extra fun having friends to hang out with!
