When I think of Hell Bunny, especially their Summer seasons, it usually conjures up bright and colourful prints, a little bit of novelty and just a whole bunch of fun. I’ve already reviewed a couple of pieces from their current Spring/Summer Collection and they certainly ticked those boxes.
However for my final review of this season of Hell Bunny, I feel like it’s something a little bit different. The Skye Dress is a little more delicate and 1940s influenced in shape compared to the rest of their heavily 50s style. From looking at the pictures online, I was expecting a grey-ish colour (that could be my monitor mind you!), but when it arrived, I was pleasantly surprised that it actually has some beautiful lavender and purple colours all the way through it.
It’s a lovely, floaty chiffon fabric that has a print of egrets and what look like blossom branches. A lovely collar and button detailing at the bust with cap sleeves and a full skirt creates a beautiful shape. You could easily fit a petticoat under this skirt but I prefer it without for a softer, draping look.
When I realized how much lavender there was in the print, the obvious choice was to enhance that further with accessories. So, as you can see, I added ALL THE LAVENDER! I was very happy that my newly released Splendette design collaboration matched perfectly although bear in mind that the pieces photographed here are samples so the colour of the carving is ever so slightly different with the final product. But it’s a very minor difference!
I’m wearing a size Small which is spot on. With a fabric like chiffon, you want a tiny bit of wriggle room as it’s a delicate fabric and too much strain on the seams could cause tears. For reference I’m about 37″ in the Bust and 27″ in the Waist. That’s pretty on par with the size chart and most of the other Hell Bunny pieces that I own.
The Skye Dress comes in sizes XS to 4XL and is between £56.99 and £61.99 depending on your size.
