Tatyana was one of the very first vintage reproduction companies that I fell in love with and I STILL have one of the dresses I bought from them in 2012, back when they were called Bettie Page Clothing. So it’s exciting to get the opportunity to work with them and bring one of their new designs to the blog!
As my style has evolved, I’ve discovered a new found appreciation for the more simple styles that have a certain amount of sophistication and elegance. The ones that can be dressed up for evening, glamourous daytime wear or even more casually. The Blake Dress by Tatyana was one of these versatile styles that caught my eye thanks to it’s simple silhouette but lovely contrast detailing.
Classic black bengaline fabric, accented with white trim, sweet little faux-crossover bust and finished off with a button, the Blake Dress definitely feels like something you’d find on Mad Men!
It’s been a while since I’ve had anything from Tatyana and so for sizing, I took customer services recommendation – I’m currently between 34-35″ in the bust (depending on the bra!) and 26″ in the waist. They recommended a size small based off the 34 – 30 measurements on the size chart but I actually think I could have gone down to a XS for a tighter fit since there’s quite a bit of stretch. Based on my experience, I think that if you are between sizes in the Blake Dress, you are probably safe to size down.
I’ve worn this dress in a more casual way, with a cardigan for warmth over the top, but for this photoshoot I wanted to bring out the more daytime sophistication that I felt best suited the dress. By adding a few key accessories, I think they really bought the dress into it’s element.
