Welcome back to part two of this three part series for The Pretty Dress Company!
As I mentioned in the first post earlier in the week, the Dovima Cybele comes in three different styles- a Playsuit and matching Overskirt, the Midi Dress and the Pencil Dress.
Normally I shy away from pencil styles, not because I don’t feel confident in wearing them, but just because more often than not they just don’t fit me properly! I’ve always been very curvy at the hips and thighs but at least one or two dress sizes smaller on top, so finding a pencil dress that fits me well is a bit like finding a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow!
When I do come across a style that does actually fit both my top half and bottom half COMFORTABLY, I am overjoyed. And that’s exactly how I felt with this Dovima Cybele Pencil Dress in Ivory.
With my current measurements being roughly 34″ in the bust, 25-26″ waist and 40″ hip, I very easily fitted into the size 8 of the Midi Dress since the swing style skirt meant I didn’t need to worry about my hips. But for the wiggle, I was a little dubious as to weather the size 8 would end up being stretched too much over my hips. But in reality, it not only fitted, but I felt amazing in it and didn’t feel too ‘stuffed’ in. Granted, it looks much more like a wiggle fit on me compared to a pencil fit, but I’m ok with that!
The secret is in the fabric – it’s a stretchy polyester/elastane blend thats also got a similar stretchy lining, so there’s real substance to this dress. I also love that the fabric isn’t one of those super slippery bengalines which ride up as soon as you take a few steps – that is my ultimate pet peeve when it’s comes to wiggle styles!
The Dovima Cybele Pencil Dress has a side tie detail, concealed centre back zip, gold thread details, back vent and as always (and expected from The Pretty Dress Company) is a high quality garment.
The Ivory colour is beautifully fresh for summer but it also comes in a black, green, pale pink, purple and red.
The Dovima Cybele Pencil Dress comes in sizes 8-18 and is £125. I would recommend that you compare your measurements with the size chart and if you are in between two sizes, you can probably size down due to the stretch in the fabric. But otherwise, it fits pretty true to size!
Thank you so much to Tigz Rice for these gorgeous snaps, and Ruby at Fontaine’s for providing the glamourous backdrop. If you haven’t read my previous post featuring the Pale Pink Midi Dress, then catch up here and stay tuned for the final post of this series coming next week!
