Today I have something extra fun to share! I’ve been working with TopVintage for years now but it’s a little harder to fly to The Netherlands to model for them at HQ now that I live back in New Zealand! So they recently sent me over a gorgeous outfit to shoot and it is one of my favourite things to do… bridal!

May is Wedding Month on the TopVintage Website, so they have lots of inspiration from getting together your look for the big day to attending a wedding as a guest.

While I love full-length wedding dresses, shorter styles are a great option to consider. I actually had two dresses when I got married – the full-length gown for the ceremony, pictures and dinner and then a shorter 50s styled dress to dance in. It’s so much more practical and allows much more movement for having fun and enjoying your party!

The dress I’m wearing is the 50s Kathrin Rose Lace Swing Dress in Ivory by Vintage Chic for TopVintage. This is SUCH a comfortable dress, seriously! It’s got a great amount of stretch to it, which makes it just lovely to wear and definitely something to consider for your big day. I’m wearing the size 8 which was a great fit for my 34″ bust even if it was a touch big at the waist.

Instead of a full veil, I’m wearing the Vintage Birdcage Veil in Old Pink which compliments the 50s styling beautifully. Because of the pink tones in this hat, I decided to continue this theme with a few of my own accessories – I added a baby pink belt and a fluffy petticoat. Now, I know that technically having the bottom of the petticoat showing is a bit of a 1950s faux pas, but hey – sometimes you just gotta break the fashion rules and I loved the flash of pink peeking out the bottom.

No bridal look is complete without accessories like shoes and jewellery. Once again, these are all from TopVintage – the shoes are the Leslie Peeptoe Pumps and the earrings and necklace are a matching set that can be purchased separately but are so perfect together. The Leaf and Pearl Necklace and Earrings feature both sparkly diamantes and pearls, so provide the ultimate bridal glam.

TopVintage always have some great affordable white dresses that can easily become a wedding look but also stock a huge range of vintage style clothing, accessories and shoes – they are a great place to shop at especially if you are located in Europe, but they do ship internationally too!

Thank you as always to Elizabeth J Pin Upfor these beautiful shots and to Highwic for letting us shoot in this amazing piece of history!
